Junior border guard Valeriy Rezun, a serviceman of the 25th Border Guard Detachment, detained two students of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Maksym and Daniil Bohun, who were traveling from Izmail to Kyiv to study, in Odesa region.

This was reported by the students ' sister , Yelizaveta Mayevska.

According to her, the incident occurred at 22:31 at the Palanka-Mayaky-Udobne checkpoint in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district. She emphasized that the students are entitled to a deferral from mobilization and were on their way to obtain the relevant up-to-date certificate, which requires personal presence. Without this certificate, students cannot get a deferment.

The girl also noted that the inspector spoke Russian while performing his duties and did not pay attention to the fact that their data in the Reserve+ system was updated on time, and that both boys had student IDs and valid military registration certificates.

"In the end, they left us at this checkpoint and did not give us any option to get home. My mom was also supposed to go to Balta on Friday in her own car and we were just lucky that her trip was postponed to Saturday, I don't know what we would have done. We called the Border Guard Service hotline and were told that the border guards had to give us a written refusal to cross this checkpoint, but they refused and said they could only draw up a report on our administrative violation," Liza Mayevska told Intent.

In the end, the certificate of refusal to allow crossing the border was signed by the senior shift officer Igor Albul.

11:35 As explained to Intent by the State Border Guard Service, temporary regime restrictions for men of the "18-60" category are in place on the Odesa-Reni transit road section

"The citizens who were not allowed through the Udobne checkpoint yesterday did not send a letter to the 25th Border Guard Detachment in advance with the relevant attachments confirming their studies at a university. They also did not have any documents confirming their studies. In order to avoid such situations, we advise citizens to familiarize themselves with the peculiarities of traveling on the transit section of the road and ask them to send appeals to the 25th Border Guard Detachment in advance," the Border Guard Service emphasized.

12:46 Yelizaveta Mayevska called the information of the border guards about the lack of documents on the boys false, emphasizing that they provided the border guards with student IDs for review. She also emphasized that they were not asked about any letters to the detachment, but were asked for a certificate of deferral.
