In Kherson, two military personnel were brought to trial for promising, in exchange for $7,000, to influence members of the Medical Examination Commission and help a fellow soldier be deemed unfit for service.
This was reported by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense Affairs in the Southern Region.
According to investigators, a 39-year-old servicemember promised a fellow soldier, for $7,000, to influence members of the Medical Examination Commission to secure a decision declaring him unfit for military service, followed by his removal from the military registry.

He enlisted a 55-year-old female colleague in the scheme. Through an acquaintance who worked at a medical facility, she arranged the necessary medical examinations.
In April 2026, the servicemember received $600 from his comrade. In July, the organizer was detained after receiving another $3,500.
Both servicemen are charged with abuse of influence as part of a premeditated conspiracy by a group of individuals—under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. One of the defendants is currently in custody.
The penalty under the charged article provides for up to five years of imprisonment.
Incidentally, a court in Kherson previously sentenced the head of the ad hoc military medical commission at one of the city’s hospitals, who was found guilty of receiving an unlawful benefit in exchange for influencing the commission’s decisions.
