The administration of the Tuzly Estuaries National Park filed a complaint with law enforcement officers against unknown persons who dumped garbage in the park.

According to the park's administration, the unknown persons threw nine bags of household waste into the floodplain of the Khadzhider River.

The National Park emphasized that according to the Law of Ukraine "On Waste," unauthorized dumping and disposal of waste, including household waste, in cities and other settlements and other places that may pose a danger to the environment and human health is prohibited. In other words, waste may be disposed of only in specially designated places that do not allow for negative impacts on the environment and human health.

In addition, the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses establishes liability for citizens and officials for contamination of land, water, forests, territories and objects of the nature reserve fund with waste.

Also, visiting forests is prohibited in accordance with the order of the Odesa Regional Military Administration dated March 28, 2022 "On the prohibition of visiting forests by the population and entry of vehicles into them".

Earlier, the State Environmental Inspectors of the Southwestern District found an unauthorized landfill near the village of Kremydivka, Odesa district. As a result of unauthorized dumping of household waste, about 2 hectares of land resources were contaminated, causing pollution. The land user failed to protect the land from negative impact and did not take measures to eliminate the consequences of this impact.

Earlier, journalists from the Center for Public Investigations tried to find out how the idea of creating a waste processing plant in Odesa is progressing. The journalists went to the Dalnytsia Quarries landfill and made an investigative film about it.
