Torture in a company car cost an employee of the Odessa TCC his freedom

A soldier at the TCC in Odesa pleaded guilty to the abduction and torture of two men while serving as part of a notification team. According to the case file, the men were beaten and tortured while being transported to the TCC.

The Center for Public Investigations uncovered the details of the case.

According to the investigation, the soldier was a member of the TCC and SP alert teams and served as a grenadier. In two instances, the teams operated without National Police officers, who have the authority to administratively detain and transport citizens to the TCC.

The first incident occurred on April 10 at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Genuezka Street. The group spotted a man and, without establishing his identity or verifying the legal grounds for detention, began pursuing him to take him to the TCC.

According to the case file, TCC officers sprayed tear gas in the man’s face. Afterward, the victim began to choke, and the officers forcibly dragged him into a Renault Master service vehicle.

During the ride, the man continued to struggle to breathe and eventually lost consciousness. He was demanded to provide his personal information and open the “Diya” app. A TCC employee struck him several times with his hands and conducted a search without legal grounds.

The second incident occurred on April 13 near the Kyiv Market. The man was stopped, then forcibly placed into a service vehicle and held there for nearly an hour. According to the investigation, the officer struck the man and threatened him with physical and sexual violence. 

As reported by Intent, another employee of the TCC and SP also pleaded guilty to the abduction of conscripts.
