Police have opened a criminal investigation into the tragedy in the village of Nerubaiske, near Odesa, where three children died.
According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, it has been preliminarily established that two girls aged three and five and their seven-year-old brother consumed an unknown substance at home while their mother was doing household chores, which allegedly made them sick.
The 30-year-old woman found her children in serious condition and called doctors. Doctors diagnosed poisoning with an unknown substance and tried to save the children, but unfortunately, they died.
Investigators registered the incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on the grounds of Article 115, paragraph 2, part 2 (Murder) with the note "accident", and Article 166 (malicious failure to fulfill the obligations of care for a child or a person or a person under guardianship or custody) and Article 321(1) (illegal production, manufacture, purchase, transportation, shipment, storage with intent to sell or sale of poisonous or potent substances or poisonous or potent medicines) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In June, police investigated the circumstances of food intoxication in Reni, Odesa region. According to the locals, the incident occurred on June 1. The cafe was hosting a mass event. Locals also note that such incidents have not occurred in this cafe before.
In February, an emergency occurred in one of the lyceums of the Tarutino community. Six students were hospitalized due to poisoning.
The police found out that during a long break in the corridor of the school, a conflict arose between two eighth and ninth grade students, during which the younger girl sprayed pepper spray at the older one.
As a result of the gas spray, in addition to the older girl, five other students of the sixth, seventh and ninth grades who were in the corridor were injured.
