The Ukrainian Navy destroyed an FSB vessel that had participated in the capture of Ukrainian sailors

The Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the destruction of the Russian border patrol ship "Izumrud" near Novorossiysk. According to the Ukrainian military, the strike was carried out using a Sargan-3000 unmanned maritime system.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Navy.

According to military sources, the vessel sustained critical damage and was destroyed near the pier. Preliminary reports indicate that there are fatalities and injuries among the crew. A published satellite image, according to the Navy, confirms the destruction of the Russian patrol ship.

The Navy noted that it was the “Izumrud” that participated in the attack on Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait on November 25, 2018, when Russian security forces seized Ukrainian military boats and their crews.

The second-rank border patrol ship “Izumrud” was launched in 2014. It was approximately 62.5 meters long, had a displacement of 630–750 metric tons, could reach speeds of up to 27 knots, and was equipped with a helicopter pad.

The Ukrainian Navy noted that the operation is another step toward reducing the Russian aggressor’s naval capabilities.

As a reminder, on the night of April 30, 2026, the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a fleet of Russian ships and boats in the Kerch Strait area.

As a result of the attack, the patrol boat “Sobol” and the anti-sabotage boat “Grachonok,” both part of the Russian security forces, were hit. According to preliminary data, the enemy suffered irreparable and combat-related casualties.
