On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Serhiy Koretsky as Prime Minister of Ukraine

This was announced during a parliamentary session.

Koretsky’s appointment as prime minister was supported by 289 members of parliament.

During his address to the Verkhovna Rada, Koretsky stated that the government under his leadership would focus on three key areas: national defense, economic development, and European integration.

According to the new head of government, his experience in the public sector—following many years in business—has convinced him that effectiveness depends first and foremost on professionalism, accountability, and fair rules. It is precisely these principles that he plans to make the foundation of the Cabinet of Ministers’ work.

Koretskyi cited preparing the country for the upcoming heating season, supporting Ukrainian businesses, strengthening cooperation with international partners, making effective use of international aid, and advancing Ukraine’s path toward European Union membership as top priorities.

According to him, the government will pay special attention to frontline regions that are under constant Russian attack.

Prior to his appointment, Serhiy Koretskyi served as head of Naftogaz of Ukraine. The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he considered Koretskyi the most qualified candidate for the position of prime minister.

It is worth noting that Koretskyi has become the third prime minister since Russia’s full-scale invasion began. Before him, Yulia Svyrydenko held this position.
