In the first half of 2026, 880 couples officially divorced through the Civil Registry Offices in the Odesa region. Based on this figure, the region ranked fourth in Ukraine.

This is according to data from OpenDataBot analysts.

In total, 12,175 couples in Ukraine had their marriages dissolved through the Civil Registry Office during the first six months of 2026.

This is only 4% less than during the same period last year. At the same time, analysts note that Ukrainians traditionally divorce more frequently in the second half of the year—on average, 30% more.

The highest number of divorces was recorded in Kyiv— 1, 801—followed by Dnipropetrovsk Oblast— 1,125, Kyiv Oblast— 898, Odesa Oblast880, and Kharkiv Oblast— 874

It is worth noting that in the Mykolaiv region, 339 divorces were registered through the Civil Registry Office, while in the Kherson region, only 20 were recorded. This low figure is attributed to the effects of the war and the temporary occupation of part of the region’s territory.

OpenDataBot notes that the statistics from the Civil Registry Office do not show the full picture, as they do not account for divorces granted by the courts. Only married couples without children and without property disputes can dissolve their marriage through the Civil Registry Office. In other cases, it is necessary to go to court.

Currently, approximately one in four divorces in Ukraine is processed through the Civil Registry Office.

Earlier in Odesa, police detained two women, aged 41 and 36, and a 49-year-old man on suspicion of organizing sham marriages in Ukraine.

The cost of such an arrangement ranged from $2,000 to $4,000—the marriage allowed foreigners to obtain a temporary residence permit, cross the border without hindrance, and legally stay in the country.

In addition, officers from the State Bureau of Investigation and the State Border Guard Service have completed an investigation into another sham marriage scheme organized by a resident of the Odesa region.
