Over the past three weeks, Mykolaiv region has seen a sharp outbreak of acute respiratory viral infections, in particular, the coronavirus disease COVID-19.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

According to the results of the 35th week of 2025 (August 25-31), a sharp increase in the incidence of SARS and COVID-19 was recorded in the Mykolaiv region. A total of 1746 people fell ill during this period, including 267 with coronavirus. This is 16.8% more than a week earlier.

It is noted that the incidence among the adult population increased by 34.2%, while among children it remained at the level of the previous week. The situation is particularly alarming in Mykolaiv, where the number of COVID-19 cases has almost tripled from 56 to 160 per week.

Despite the significant increase, the overall incidence rate in the region is still 66.9% below the epidemic threshold. Over the past week, 111 people were hospitalized with SARS and influenza, 45 of them with COVID-19. No fatalities were reported.

Laboratory tests have confirmed the circulation of the COVID-19 virus in the region, which indicates an active epidemic process in the Mykolaiv region.

Earlier, it was already noted that the spread of the disease in Mykolaiv region was increasing. At that time, the number of coronavirus cases increased 8 times - from 7 to 56 cases per week. Due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation, the center's experts remind of the importance of vaccination. Vaccination is an effective means of protection against severe coronavirus disease and its dangerous consequences.

Doctors emphasize that even those who have already had COVID-19 should be vaccinated, as the duration of immunity after the disease is currently unknown. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention urges residents not to hesitate and to protect their health by contacting the nearest vaccination center.
