Number of COVID-19 cases in Mykolaiv increased 8 times in a week

Over the past two weeks, the incidence of COVID-19 has increased significantly in Mykolaiv region. The number of coronavirus cases has increased 8-fold - from 7 to 56 cases per week.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation, the center's experts remind of the importance of vaccination. Vaccination is an effective means of protection against severe coronavirus disease and its dangerous consequences.

Doctors emphasize that even those who have already had COVID-19 should be vaccinated, as the duration of immunity after the disease is currently unknown. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention urges residents not to delay and protect their health by contacting the nearest vaccination center.

In July 2024, more than 8 thousand cases of COVID-19 were registered in Ukraine, and in June - more than 2 thousand cases. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine does not provide instructions or a recipe for quick recovery from coronavirus. This is especially true given the different course of the disease and the individual characteristics of each patient.

Among the tips given by the professional community to patients who have suffered from COVID-19 are sleeping patterns and a balanced diet, moderate physical activity, exercises to train the brain and cognitive abilities, and walks in the fresh air.

Odesa Regional Hospital and Maternity Center have been quarantined due to COVID-19. Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced the detection of a new sub-variant of the Omicron coronavirus called Nimbus in Odesa region. According to the ministry, 81 cases of Stratus sub-variant and two cases of Nimbus have been confirmed in the country so far. The Nimbus sub-variant of the coronavirus (NB.1.8.1), as well as the Stratus sub-variant (XFG), are currently dominant in the world. These are new mutations of the Omicron strain.
