In the Odesa region, the number of personal bankruptcy cases fell from 68 to 64 during the first nine months of the year. At the same time, nationwide, the number of insolvent individuals rose by 37%, reaching more than 1,200 recorded cases.

This is according to data from the OpenDataBot platform.

A similar decline was also recorded in the Mykolaiv region, where the number of personal bankruptcy cases fell from 16 to 11.

The majority of insolvent citizens in Ukraine are people of working age—between 25 and 45 years old—who account for over 67% of all cases. The gender balance has also shifted this year: women make up the majority of those filing for bankruptcy (53%).

The bankruptcy procedure for individuals in Ukraine was introduced in October 2019. Only the debtor themselves can initiate it. The process does not guarantee full debt forgiveness, as part of the debt is repaid through the sale of assets, and child support payments are not subject to forgiveness at all. In addition, bankruptcy status imposes restrictions on obtaining new loans for the next five years.

As Intent previously reported, nearly 17,000 new sole proprietorships have been registered in the Odesa region since the beginning of 2026, allowing the region to rank among the top five most active business regions in Ukraine. Overall, over the course of nine months, the number of active entrepreneurs in the region has increased by more than 5,000.
