The new head of the Education Department of Odesa City Council became a co-owner of an apartment in 2023

Acting Odesa Mayor Ihor Koval has appointed a new head of the Department of Education and Science.

By order of the mayor, the department is headed by Iryna Stolbova, who was previously the deputy director.

She is currently acting temporarily until the position of director is filled. The previous director of the Department of Education and Science of Odesa City Council, Olena Buynevych, announced that she was resigning from this position. Olena Buynevych had been heading the Department of Education in Odesa since January 2015, when the then mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, appointed her acting director. At that time, she was named Teacher of the Year 2014. She was then 39 years old and headed school No. 44 as principal.

Regarding the new interim head of the department, Iryna Stolbova reported in her 2024 declaration that she is a co-owner of two apartments - a 71.8-square-meter apartment in Odesa, where she owns a quarter, and a 72-square-meter apartment in Kyiv, 20% of which she has owned since 2023.

Her husband, since 2023, has owned a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro made in 2022. In 2024, the official received a salary of 622 thousand hryvnias. Her husband earned UAH 346,865 at the Odesa Aviation Plant Limited Liability Company and a pension of UAH 240.4 thousand. Iryna Stolbova's family has no cash savings.

Earlier, Andriy Zarytskyi, acting director of the Finance Department of Odesa City Council, also resigned. Deputy Mayor Valeriy Silin, who is under investigation as part of a criminal proceeding in which he is accused of negligence, was also dismissed. Eight people were suspected under part 3 of Article 367 - official negligence - including deputies Anna Pozdnyakova and Valeriy Silin, director of the City Roads utility Vadym Todiychuk, and director of the Municipal Economy Department Leonid Hrebenyuk.
