The Kherson region suffered damages totaling more than 18 billion

The damage to land resources in the Kherson region as a result of the full-scale war has already exceeded 18 billion hryvnias. Inspectors are documenting debris littering the area, damage to the soil surface, and other consequences of Russian shelling.

This was reported by the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southern District.

According to the inspection, cases of land damage resulting from combat operations have been regularly documented in the Kherson region throughout the full-scale war. Specifically, this includes debris littering the territory and damage to the soil surface.

For each confirmed incident, experts assess the extent of the environmental damage caused.

According to current estimates as of early September, the total damage to land resources in the Kherson region amounts to over 18 billion 244 million 630 thousand hryvnias.

As a reminder, the damage to the nature reserve fund of the Kherson region as a result of the full-scale war exceeded 1 trillion 278 billion 759 million hryvnias. This refers to damage caused to natural areas by shelling and fires.

In July, Russian shelling sparked fires within the“Askania-Nova” Biosphere Reserve. Approximately 10,800 trees and other plants were destroyed there.

Earlier, officials at the “Askania-Nova” Reserve had warned of the threat ofanimal deaths due to a lack of feed for ungulates following the drought of 2025. Experts warned that without additional feeding, a mass die-off of animals could occur this winter.
