Police have served a notice of suspicion to the former head of a private enterprise of causing losses to the state in the amount of almost UAH 500,000 during the reconstruction of a park in Pivdenne, Odesa region.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

Investigators claim that the funds were misappropriated by the businessman during the reconstruction of a park in Pivdenne. The offender faces up to eight years in prison.

The Capital Construction Department of the City Council and a limited liability company engaged in the production of a wide range of goods, trade and construction entered into an agreement to reconstruct a park near one of the residential buildings in Pivdenne. A significant amount of money was allocated for the project from the city's development budget, some of which the head of the contractor decided to misappropriate.

Having not completed the work on the site in full, the former head of the company drew up and signed deliberately false acts, in which he indicated all the work, materials used and their cost. Based on these documents, the money from the local budget was transferred to the contractor's account in full. The difference between the price of the declared and the actual cost of the work is almost half a million hryvnias.

Based on the evidence collected, investigators notified the former head of the company of suspicion of misappropriation of property by abuse of office on a large scale and of making deliberately false official documents, which caused grave consequences.

If proven guilty, the maximum penalty is eight years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
