Following her dismissal, Natalia Zhurzhenko, the former head of the Education Department of the Kherson City Council, is seeking a new leadership position in the capital. The former Kherson official has submitted an application to work at the Pechersk District State Administration in Kyiv.
This information is contained in the application.
According to the document, on June 11, 2026, Natalia Zhurzhenko submitted her 2025 declaration as a candidate for the position of deputy head of the department—head of the education division—at the Pechersk District State Administration in Kyiv.
Zhurzhenko had worked in the Education Department of the Kherson City Council since 2021, and in September 2025, she was dismissed from her position as head of the department.
Her name had previously been mentioned in the public sphere due to the Education Department’s purchase of a Hyundai Tucson worth over 1.1 million hryvnias.
At the time, the official explained to journalists that the previous official vehicle had been stolen during the occupation of Kherson, and the new vehicle was necessary for visiting the community’s educational institutions and monitoring the work of resilience centers.
There was only one bidder in the tender—the Kherson-based limited liability company “Avtoplaneta Plus”—and it emerged as the winner. Despite the lack of competition, the company offered the aforementioned vehicle at a lower price—1,124,900 hryvnias.
In 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the title of “Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine” to Natalia Zhurzhenko, then head of the Education Department of the Kherson City Council.
Earlier, the Center for Public Investigations decided to find out where 32 million hryvnias went during the construction of an underground school in Kherson.
