An enemy attack in Mykolaiv damaged the home of rescuers, which hurt the family who save others every day. Despite the destruction, they find the strength to rebuild their home and continue to work for the community.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region.

On July 6, 2025, on Sunday morning, the house of Natalia Haichenko, a dispatcher at the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv Oblast, came under enemy attack. The first explosion was heard nearby, and the second one was very close. The woman immediately rushed to save her children, and fortunately, the family survived. As Natalia admitted, since the beginning of the war, she had been afraid that the next "hit" might not be far away, but right next door to her home.

When her husband Pavlo, also a rescuer, arrived at the scene and saw the ruins of his home, he walked into a familiar corridor, wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet, but now it was completely different, full of destruction.

The press service noted that the family has now returned home to begin reconstruction. They are clearing the rubble, sorting through the dust and debris, and gradually rebuilding their home.

Recently, a dry grass fire spread to a private house in Mykolaiv region, killing a woman and burning her daughter while trying to save her mother. The victim was hospitalized in a burn unit.

In early July, 57 fires occurred in Mykolaiv region per day. Most of the fires - 39 - were recorded in open areas, 12 more occurred in the private sector, and two each at facilities and in transport. Rescuers also extinguished crop residue fires three times in Voznesensky, Pervomaisky and Mykolaiv districts.

Earlier this year, in the village of Ivanivka, Voznesensk district, 14-year-old Dmytro rescued his younger brother from a burning house. The boy took the six-year-old child out of the room where the fire started due to a short circuit, and then returned and tried to extinguish the fire himself. For this act, he was recently recognized with a special award for heroism.
