At the Mykolaiv Blood Transfusion Center, irregularities were discovered during the transfer of plasma whose shelf life did not meet the requirements. According to the investigation, the head of the facility ordered that more than 660 liters of such plasma be transferred to a private company.

The Center for Public Investigations examined the details of the case.

As stated in the court ruling, in March 2026, the acting director of the Mykolaiv Regional Blood Transfusion Station entered into a contract with Biofarma Plasma LLC for the sale of plasma for fractionation worth 5.92 million hryvnias.

Law enforcement officials determined that the plasma shipment may have included 2,298 doses of plasma with a total volume of 661.475 liters. It was collected between April 28 and September 12, 2025; thus, at the time of sale, the established 12-month storage period had not yet expired.

In March, this plasma was sold as raw material unsuitable for clinical use. The total value of the batch was over 1.2 million hryvnias. Investigators noted that these actions caused the municipal enterprise financial losses totaling over 2.2 million hryvnias.

As reported by Intent, the center’s director was notified of the charges against him. Law enforcement officials also conducted a search of the center’s premises and seized documentation, including lists of blood donations and supporting documents related to plasma collection.

However, investigators had already obtained the lists of blood donations and other supporting documentation back in June. According to their data, the collection dates of certain plasma batches indicate that the required 12-month storage period had not yet elapsed at the time of sale.
