The cases of five organizers of the Russian pseudo-referendum have been referred to court

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Prosecutors have filed indictments with the court against five women from the Kherson region who organized an illegal referendum in the occupied territories. Among the defendants is a practicing Ukrainian attorney.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>According to the investigation, the lawyer held the position of a so-called “member of the regional election commission.” In this role, in September 2022, she organized a pseudo-referendum, specifically by designing election documents, arranging funding for the pseudo-elections, coordinating the work of lower-level commissions, and overseeing the provision of supplies to polling stations.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The other defendants held leadership and executive positions within illegally established precinct election commissions in Kherson and the region. Two of them carried out propaganda work, recruited local residents to participate in the commissions’ activities, and distributed campaign materials. Two other defendants went door-to-door, ensured that marks were made on voter rolls, and collected votes.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

Earlier, prosecutors filed an indictment against a 42-year-old company director who carried out contracts for the repair of buildings for the occupiers. The woman faces up to five years in prison. 

Specifically, throughout 2024, the company under her control entered into a series of contracts with the illegally established Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office and, under those contracts, carried out major repairs to roofs, facades, electrical systems, and interiors of the administrative buildings of the occupying authority in Henichesk. Her company also supplied automatic gates to the enemy. The total value of the contracts amounted to over 11 million Russian rubles.
