The Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found a teacher of the Road College of Odesa National Polytechnic University guilty of taking a thousand dollar bribe and fined him 68 thousand hryvnias.

During the court hearing, the teacher fully admitted his guilt, the Dumskaya newspaper reported.

At the trial, the teacher actually said that he had met an acquaintance in the classroom who asked him to help her get into an educational institution - to put in a good word for her. According to him, the girl had a sufficient number of points and just wanted to be sure that the admission would go smoothly. The first meeting took place in March 2025 - she explained that she had previously been expelled from the university and now wanted to be reinstated.

The amount of money offered was one thousand dollars. The teacher called the money a charitable contribution to the development of the college. The man sincerely repented of his actions, and the court found him guilty of obtaining an undue advantage for himself or a third party for influencing a decision.

According to the publication, the man in question is Oleksandr Perzha, who has been working at the school since 2008. In 2011, he won 1st place in the Teacher of the Year competition in Electrical Engineering among teachers of Odesa region, and in 2021 he was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Executive Committee of the City Council "for his significant contribution to the training of specialists in the road construction and transport industries."

Earlier, the Southern City Court of Odesa Region found the soldier guilty of forgery and fined him 150 tax-free minimum incomes, which is UAH 2,550. While performing military service as a machine gunner with the rank of soldier, the man decided to pretend that he could not continue his service for health reasons. To do this, he forged a certificate stating that he had been treated at the Health Care Center of the Ukrainian Railways Joint Stock Company.
