The Southern City Court of Odesa Region found the soldier guilty of forgery and fined him 150 tax-free minimum incomes, which is UAH 2,550.

As stated in the court's verdict, while performing military service as a machine gunner with the rank of soldier, the man decided to pretend that he could not continue his service for health reasons.

To do this, he forged a certificate stating that he had been treated at the Health Care Center of the Ukrainian Railways Joint Stock Company. To do this, he used materials and data from the Internet and sent it to the commander of his unit.

In sentencing the defendant, the court took into account the severity of the criminal offense, the identity of the perpetrator, mitigating circumstances, and the absence of aggravating circumstances.

The judges also took into account that at the time of the criminal offense, the accused was serving in the military, had no previous convictions, was characterized positively at the place of service, and was not registered with a narcologist or psychiatrist.

Earlier, the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa found the lawyer, who was detained in February on suspicion of influence peddling, guilty and fined him UAH 212,500. The amount of the fine imposed on the accused is higher than the maximum fine provided for in part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - it is equal to 12.5 tax-free minimum incomes, and the maximum fine provided for in this part is 5.5 thousand tax-free minimums. However, it also provides for imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
