During the first day of the new year, two people were killed and at least six injured in the Kherson region.

This is stated in the morning report of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.

Over the past day, 38 settlements in the Kherson region, including the regional center, came under enemy fire and air strikes.

The regional military administration reported that the Russian invaders were hitting social infrastructure and residential areas of the region's settlements. The aggressors damaged five high-rise buildings and seven private houses. The occupiers also damaged gas pipelines, outbuildings, garages and private cars.

According to the prosecutor's office, on January 1, 2025, at about 10:30 a.m., Russian army soldiers fired artillery at the Dniprovsky district of Kherson. The shelling killed a 23-year-old man who was in the street.

Roman Mrochko, the head of the Kherson MBA, said that the deceased was a volunteer of the NGO "Strong because Free" Pavel Matviyets. He was helping to deliver household appliances, food and hygiene kits to Kherson residents affected by Russian attacks. Together with employees of the city military administration, he cleared rubble and removed construction debris after the shelling.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the OVA , told about the death of a second man. On the evening of January 1, Russian troops attacked the village of Mykilske in Kherson region with a drone.

"As a result of the explosives dropped from the drone, the 59-year-old man sustained explosive and craniocerebral injuries, contusion, as well as shrapnel wounds to the chest, abdomen, traumatic amputation of the forearm, thigh and foot," he said.
