A Russian strike on a polyclinic in Odesa severely damaged the laboratory. The blast wave destroyed the premises and disabled the unique equipment that provided accurate diagnostics.

This was reported by Anna Sholomytska, head of the Compass clinical diagnostic laboratory.

She noted that microscopes used for detailed analysis of cellular structures were broken in the laboratory. Even a minimal displacement of the optics or microcracks in the lenses mean a loss of accuracy and the ability to obtain reliable results.

The Erba XL 200 automatic biochemistry analyzer fell to the floor due to the blast wave, causing calibration to be disrupted, sensors to be damaged, and internal connections responsible for measurement accuracy to be deformed.

The shock wave also damaged the Sysmex XNL-330 automatic analyzer, which provided continuous hematology monitoring. Highly sensitive detectors and optical components that work with microscopic volumes of fluid can fail even from minor vibrations, let alone the impact of a blast wave.

As a result of the February 19 attack, 14 schools, 13 kindergartens and more than 500 residential buildings in a large neighborhood lost power and heating. To prevent accidents in the system, utilities are forced to drain water from pipes. Hospitals, clinics and social infrastructure of the city suffered significant damage.

On February 13, around 18:10, Russia launched a missile attack on a port infrastructure facility in Odesa. It has been preliminarily established that the attack was carried out by an Iskander-M ballistic missile.

On the night of February 12-13, Odesa region was subjected to a large-scale attack by Russian drones. Explosions were heard both in Odesa and in the region. The main impact was on the Izmail district.
