On June 4, a memorial event was held in Mykolaiv to commemorate the Day of Remembrance of Children who died as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.

The event was attended by representatives of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, educators, the public, and residents of the city. The attendees honored the memory of the dead children with a minute of silence, lit candles and placed symbolic angels and bells on the trees, representing the voices of little Ukrainians whose lives were taken by the war.

According to the Mykolaiv Regional Administration of Children's Services, 22 children have been killed in the region since the start of the full-scale invasion. Among them are boys and girls aged three to 17. The war claimed the most children's lives in 2022, when 17 children died. In 2023, three more children became victims of Russian aggression, in 2024 - one child, and another child died in 2026.

The OVA emphasized that behind each figure is a separate family tragedy. Among the dead are children who became victims of rocket attacks on residential buildings, artillery shelling, mines and explosives. Some of them were killed together with their parents or siblings, while others were fatally wounded while evacuating or resting near their homes.

The Service for Children's Affairs published the names of all 22 children whose lives were cut short by the war, emphasizing that the memory of every little resident of Mykolaiv region must be preserved.

Participants of the memorial event emphasized that each child killed is an irreparable loss for Mykolaiv region and the whole of Ukraine, and their memory should remind the world of the price Ukrainians pay for freedom.

On the evening of March 28, in the village of Peresadivka, Mykolaiv region, a Russian attack drone attacked a recreation area near the local community center. At the time of the attack, teenagers and local residents were there. Ten people were injured in the attack, most of them children. It was later reported that a 13-year-old girl died in hospital.
