Conflict is unfolding in Crimea: the Moscow-based FSB has begun an investigation into the activities of Sergei Aksyonov. The occupying head of the peninsula is suspected of large-scale corruption and abuse of power.

This was reported by Krym.Realii.

As noted in the media, a special group of the FSB from Moscow, which has received special powers, is working in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Its main task is to check the activities of the Russian "head of Crimea" Sergei Aksyonov. It is looking into possible abuses of power, corruption schemes and conflicts of interest.

The presence of Moscow security forces in the building of the so-called government of Crimea was reported by a local human rights activist who wished to remain anonymous. According to him, the visit of the FSB caused panic among officials, some of whom even felt sick after talking to Aksyonov. The inspectors are paying special attention not only to the Crimean council, but also to the leadership of Yevpatoria, where serious problems are expected.

According to a media source, the work of the special services came as a surprise to the local Russian elite. Currently, the number of high-profile cases against high-ranking officials who have their illegally acquired property seized is growing in Russia. This is due to the budget deficit caused by sanctions. The appetites of Crimean officials have long irritated the Kremlin, especially because of the chaotic development of the peninsula in violation of the law.

In addition, the Kremlin was concerned about the activities of the paramilitary group Bars-Krym, which it created. Its size and regular exercises at the height of the holiday season, as well as the presence of scandalous figures in its leadership, raised suspicions in Moscow that Aksyonov felt like a local tsar.

Recently, according to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, the head of the occupation administration of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, announced at a closed meeting preliminary agreements with Chinese business on the construction of several facilities.

With the participation of Chinese companies, the terrorist country Russia plans to build a port and a railroad in the annexed Crimea, in particular near the Kerch port and Lake Donuzlav. Potential investments could reach $10 billion.
