Russia attacked a civilian ship carrying corn as it was leaving a port in the Odesa region

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Today, as it was leaving a port in the Odesa region, a civilian vessel flying the Palau flag came under targeted attack by the Russian Federation on two occasions. The strikes caused a fire on the vessel.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>This was reported by Mykola Kalashnyk, Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>According to preliminary information, seven crew members and a Ukrainian pilot were rescued. Two sailors are currently listed as missing. A search and rescue operation is underway.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span> The attacked vessel was carrying nearly 2,800 metric tons of corn.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>“This is yet another deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure and international shipping. Russia is once again demonstrating its complete disregard for international law, posing a threat to the safety of shipping, global trade, and food security,” said Mykola Kalashnyk. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

Earlier, it was reported that a sailor from the vessel, which came under a drone attack while en route to Reni, had died. The deceased was one of three crew members who were hospitalized following the incident.Tudor-Ion Năstăsescu, director of the Tulcea County Medical Center, noted that the man suffered pulmonary complications related to inhalation trauma.The other two injured sailors remain hospitalized in theintensive care unit. They are in stable condition, and their lives are not in danger.
