A woman who made an explosive device to blow up one of the military law enforcement units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been detained in Odesa region.
According to the Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region, at the end of 2024, the suspect was recruited by Russian special services via the Telegram channel. In exchange for a monetary reward, she agreed to perform tasks to the detriment of Ukraine's state security. The woman received detailed instructions on how to make an improvised explosive device (IED) and organize video surveillance of a military facility in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. To implement the criminal plan, the curators transferred UAH 18 thousand to her to purchase components for explosives and rent an apartment near the facility. The woman took some of the explosive materials from a previously prepared cache.
"On January 9, 2025, acting on the instructions of representatives of the Russian special services, the suspect prepared an explosive device for delivery to the perpetrator. She left it in a package at the entrance of an apartment building near the potential target," the statement said.
On the same day, the explosive was detonated near the building of the military law enforcement department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odesa region. Fortunately, none of the personnel or civilians were injured.
Under the procedural supervision of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, the woman was served a notice of suspicion of committing a terrorist act. The suspect is currently in custody. Her involvement in other crimes is being checked.
Earlier, law enforcement officers detained a saboteur in Odesa who was making explosives for terrorist attacks. One of them was used to blow up a police station in Bilyayivka, Odesa region. The terrorist attack in Bilyayivka took place on March 23. A local resident recruited by the FSB brought an explosive device to the district police department, after which it was remotely detonated along with the perpetrator of the attack.
