The Odesa City Council has announced public discussions on renaming Molochna Lane and Chapaeva Street, which will end on October 10.

According to the Socially Active Citizen platform, Molokov Lane will be renamed after Iryna Popova.

Iryna Popova devoted more than half a century, from 1954 until the end of her life, to teaching and research at the I. Mechnikov Odesa National University, where she was the head of the Department of Philosophy of the Humanities Faculties for 17 years, and since 1992 she has worked as a professor at the Department of Sociology. Thanks to her, a research sociological group was founded, which carried out important studies of social and political processes, public opinion, and international relations. For many years, she was the head of the Southern Ukrainian branch of the Sociological Association of Ukraine and headed the Commission on Professional Ethics of the SAU. Iryna Popova was a deeply moral person with democratic and patriotic beliefs.

Vasyl Molokov, on the other hand, was a Soviet polar pilot, a hero of the Soviet Union. He was born in the Moscow region. He was a member of the Central Audit Commission of the CPSU (b) (1941-1952). Vasyl Molokov Lane in the Kyivskyi district is located near the 10th station of the Bolshoi Fontan.

ChapaevStreet is named after Chapaev, a Russian Empire and Bolshevik military officer who participated in the establishment of Soviet power in the former Russian Empire. Chapayev Street in Khadzhibey district is located between Mykola Borovskoho Street and Kyivske Highway.

The street will be named Tsekhova. The name is proposed for the renaming of Chapaeva Street in Khadzhibey district, given that this street is located in an industrial area with almost no houses, but rather production workshops (enterprises).
