Reconstruction of the basement of the obstetrics building started in Kherson

Kherson plans to reconstruct the basement of the obstetrics building of the city's clinical hospital into a modern rehabilitation unit and shelter. The project includes enhanced security, modern engineering systems, and full accessibility for people with limited mobility.

This is evidenced by the data of the DREAM digital restoration system.

Kherson initiated the reconstruction of the basement of the obstetric unit of the Kherson City Clinical Hospital named after O.S. Luchansky. The project envisages the construction of a modern rehabilitation department and a dual-purpose building with protective properties of a radiation shelter.

According to the project, after the reconstruction, the area of the premises will be 1,684.4 m², and the shelter will be able to accommodate 107 people. During wartime, it will serve as protection for patients and staff, and in peacetime, it will be used for medical work.

Particular attention is paid to accessibility for people with limited mobility: ramps, inclined lifts, tactile tiles, wide corridors, threshold-free doors and bathrooms will be installed to meet the needs of people with limited mobility.

The total cost of the project is over UAH 163.8 million, of which 132.3 million are capital costs and 31.4 million are operating costs. Currently, confirmed funding is 0.85% of the need (UAH 1.4 million from the local budget). The project was initiated by the Capital Construction Department of the Kherson City Council.

The construction of a shelter for a school and a kindergarten is also underway in Kherson region. The work began in 2023, and the contract was awarded to a company that the NGO suspects of embezzling budget funds.
