Prices for food, clothing and funeral services rose in Mykolaiv region in April

In April, prices for food, clothing and funeral services rose in Mykolaiv region, with inflation exceeding the national level. Prices for pork, fruit, clothing and funeral services rose the most.

This is evidenced by data from the Main Department of Statistics in Mykolaiv region.

In April 2025, inflation in the consumer market of Mykolaiv region amounted to 0.9%, which is higher than the average for Ukraine - 0.7%. Overall, since the beginning of the year, prices in the region have risen by 4.6%, while the national average is 4.3%.

Food prices rose the most: by an average of 1.4%. Among the leaders of the rise in prices are pork, which added 13.7%, and fruit (+10.9%). Sugar, lard, fish, beef, chicken, pasta, and vegetables also became more expensive - by 0.7-4.7%. On the other hand, prices for milk (-4.3%), eggs (-3.8%), and cheese (-3.7%) decreased.

Alcohol and tobacco remained almost unchanged in price, while the seasonal rise in prices for clothing and footwear amounted to 3.8% - clothing added 4.2% to the price, and footwear - 3.3%.

In the healthcare sector, there was an increase in the cost of medical services: consultations went up by 2.6%, hospital services by 1.7%, diagnostics by 1.3%, and medicines by 0.7%.

A 1.5% decrease in fuel prices resulted in a 0.5% overall reduction in transportation costs. However, transportation fares increased: by 4.8% for suburban buses and by 0.7% for intercity trains.

Separately, it is worth noting a sharp increase in the cost of funeral services - by 32.4% at once.

In January 2025, inflation in the Mykolaiv region was 1.1%, slightly lower than the average for Ukraine - 1.2%. Food, transportation, and communication services were the most expensive. In February, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by another 1.7%. Sunflower oil and eggs were the most expensive items.

At the end of 2024, the average pension in Ukraine increased, but due to inflation, pensioners did not feel a real improvement. More than 25% of the elderly live on less than 3 thousand hryvnias. In some regions, pensions have even decreased.

In the south of Ukraine, pensions remain consistently low: in Odesa region, the average amount is 5,628 hryvnias, in Mykolaiv region - 5,547 hryvnias, and in Kherson region - only 4,968 hryvnias.
