The political prisoner from Sevastopol, Crimean Tatar Zaur Abdullayev, sentenced to 12 years in prison, is in critical condition and in dire need of medical care.

This was reported by Crimean Solidarity on Facebook with reference to his wife Emine Abdullayeva, who met him for a long date in prison #2 in the Vladimir region.

According to Emine, her husband suffers from diabetes and hypertension, and he needs regular check-ups by an endocrinologist and certain tests, which have not been provided in full.

His wife noted that Zaur 'suffers from blood pressure, his eyesight is deteriorating'. During his imprisonment, his eyesight deteriorated significantly and his teeth deteriorated due to a lack of vitamins: now he has only 10-12 healthy teeth, the rest are crumbling. The prison dentist who visited Zaur only extracts teeth without providing treatment.

Although shortly before the visit, the doctors performed an abdominal ultrasound, cardiogram and eye test on Abdullayev, he was not informed of the results of the examinations. ''The only thing he heard was that his liver was enlarged. Given all his health problems, it is getting worse every year,'' Abdullayeva said.

Currently, Zaur Abdullayev, who can receive only one parcel a year, is in prison. His detention period has been recalculated: he will stay in the institution until December 16, after which he will be transferred to a penal colony, the name of which is still unknown. As a reminder, Abdullayev was detained in 2022 during mass searches in Crimea and sentenced to 12 years in prison on charges of 'participation in the activities of a terrorist organization' and 'preparation for the violent seizure of power'.
