A video of a conflict between police officers and women in Odesa, during which one of the police officers knocked one of the rivals to the ground and broke her arms, appeared on social media on December 16.

The authors of the publication claimed that the incident occurred near the Privoz market.

The video shows a group of women arguing with a police officer, which leads to a scuffle, and the police officer throws himself at one of the opponents. Another woman in a green sweater kicks the policeman. It is unclear whether the woman hit or not and how hard the kick was, but the policeman turned around and grabbed the woman in the sweater by the neck and began to push her to the ground, and after he had her down, he twisted her arm. The recording is interrupted at this point.

Later, the police confirmed that the incident had taken place. According to the police, at about 12:00, a patrol stopped a Ford car to check documents. During the check, the patrol officers found that the driver was wanted under Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desertion).

The man, according to the police, was behaving aggressively: shouting, resisting the patrol officers and trying to escape. The inspectors informed the driver of his detention and used handcuffs and physical force to ensure his safety.

"During the detention, several women obstructed the work of the police. The inspectors tried to explain to them the legality of their actions and warn them of the consequences of obstruction, but their calls had no effect," the police said.

In the end, patrol officers detained the driver and took him to the Prymorsky District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. The issue of entering information about the actions of the persons who obstructed the performance of police duties into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is currently being resolved.
