Local governments presented the results of infrastructure and housing restoration in Mykolaiv region in 2024. According to them, the Mykolaiv region continues to recover steadily from the destruction caused by the war.

This is evidenced by the report of Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.

In 2024, estimated projects were implemented to restore residential buildings, infrastructure, roads and bridges at the expense of state and local budgets, as well as with the support of international partners.

UAH 1.58 billion was allocated from the state, regional and local budgets to restore the affected facilities. As part of these activities, 12 projects were completed after the development of design and estimate documentation.

41 projects are being implemented in medical and educational institutions, including:

UAH 1.28 billion was allocated for road and bridge repairs, including UAH 347 million for the restoration of bridge structures. 243 kilometers of local roads were repaired. We have also completed the restoration of 5 bridges and are building 4 more bridges under the UNITED24 initiative.

As for the reconstruction of housing and social infrastructure, as of December 2024, the following have been restored:

As part of the Recovery Program, UAH 362 million has already been paid as the first payment for 4,083 repair requests. The total amount of compensation for repairs is UAH 580 million for 5,261 applications. Compensation for destroyed housing amounted to UAH 1.3 billion for 1,051 applications. A total of 1,575 applications for compensation for destroyed housing were submitted.

Mykolaiv is also working on a new Master Plan for the city, which should become the strategic framework for development for the next 30 years or more. The new document will define the use of territories, which will allow the city to develop, build new housing, including for war-affected people, develop infrastructure, production facilities and green areas.

Ukraine has recently received funding to rebuild its social infrastructure. Odesa and Mykolaiv regions are among the regions that have received assistance. The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided €55 million under the Ukraine Recovery Program.

The EU-guaranteed funds will be used to reconstruct medical facilities, social housing, schools, heating, water supply and sewage systems, and other important social infrastructure.
