Residents of Odesa region paid UAH 243 million in real estate tax in the first three months of 2025, and the region ranked fourth in Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the State Tax Inspectorate.

In total, between January and March 2025, taxpayers paid UAH 2.6 billion in real estate tax on real estate other than land for the "extra" meters of their own real estate. Compared to the same period last year, the payment increased by 17.7%, or almost UAH 400 million. In the first quarter of 2024, local budgets received UAH 2.2 billion.

The top three regions in terms of tax payment are as follows:

Ukraine has a real estate tax, also known as the "extra meter tax". It is imposed on owners of an apartment of more than 60 square meters, a private house of more than 120 square meters, or a combined property of more than 180 square meters. It is paid once a year.

In 2025, the tax rate depends on the minimum wage. It is calculated separately in each locality. However, there are rules throughout the country regarding who may not pay real estate tax in Ukraine.

Local authorities independently set the tax rate in each region. However, there is a maximum threshold of 1.5% of the minimum wage for each "extra" square meter. In 2025, this figure is UAH 106.5.

The tax is paid for the previous year, which means that in 2025 it should have been paid for 2024. Homeowners with "extra meters" will receive a receipt by July 1, after which it must be paid within 60 days. If the payment has not been received, you can contact the tax office to get it.
