Odesa Regional Council Announces Jury Selection for Odesa Courts

According to the submission of the Territorial Department of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine in Odesa region, the Odesa Regional Council has announced the recruitment of jurors for four district courts of Odesa.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa City Council.

They are looking for 13 jurors for Kyiv District Court, 11 for Prymorskyi District Court, six for Peresypskyi District Court, and nine for Khadzhybeyskyi District Court.

The issue of recruiting jurors for the city's district courts became the responsibility of the regional council after the Odesa City Council failed to do so. Thus, at an extraordinary session of the city council held on April 10, during the consideration of this issue, the deputies debated among themselves, because they were not supported at the extraordinary session. This caused indignation among the deputy Olga Kvasnitskaya, because the absence of jurors may make it impossible to consider some cases and these cases will be transferred to the courts of other settlements. The term of office of the current jurors expires in early May this year.

At the time, during the session , Inna Popovska , Head of the Legal Department of the Odesa City Council, emphasized that the issue of approving the jury lists would be submitted to the session on April 29. If they are not approved then, the decision will be made by the Odesa Regional Council. The jurors who were on the list at the April 10 session are already in office and the plan was to simply extend their terms of office.
