Police detained a resident of Odesa district who provided false reports of a bomb threat at several facilities.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast, a 31-year-old resident of the Velykodalnytska territorial community anonymously called the 102 special line three times during the month, reporting an alleged bomb threat to a shop, a beauty salon, and a law enforcement unit in Odesa Oblast.

The police responded to each report in a regular manner: evacuating people, inspecting the buildings and surrounding areas. No explosive devices were found in any of the cases.

In the course of operational and search activities, law enforcement officers identified the offender and detained him. It turned out that the man already had a criminal record for theft and a similar false report of a bomb threat in a store, for which he spent 3 years and 6 months in prison.

The attacker did not provide any explanation for his actions.

Investigators served the man a notice of suspicion of knowingly making a false report of a bomb threat, in particular against a building that supports the activities of public authorities, which threatens the death of people or other grave consequences, committed repeatedly. If found guilty, the man faces up to eight years in prison. At our request, the court imposed a custodial measure of restraint on the suspect.

Earlier, in Odesa region, a 28-year-old woman made explosive devices to blow up people to order, but did not receive the promised reward. One of the devices exploded and injured a local man, and now the suspect faces up to 12 years in prison.
