In the first half of 2025, entrepreneurs opened 18,277 new companies in Ukraine, 1,198 of which were in Odesa region.

According to the analysts of the Opendatabot platform, Odesa region is the fifth in Ukraine by this indicator.

As for other regions of the South, 425 companies were opened in Mykolaiv region and 63 in Kherson region. Kyiv ranks first in Ukraine with 5,830 companies. This is followed by Lviv region with 1,547 companies, Dnipropetrovs'k region with 1,531 companies, and Kyiv region with 1,211 companies.

At the same time, the majority of closures are in the same regions. Kyiv is the leader with 717 companies. It is followed by Lviv region with 470 companies and Dnipropetrovs'k region with 464 companies. Odesa region ranks fourth in terms of closed companies - 412 companies, Mykolaiv region - 242, and Kherson region - 64.

According to analysts, the number of new business openings has stabilized: last year, almost the same number of new businesses opened during the same period. However, it has not yet been possible to reach the figures on the eve of the full-scale one: in 2021, 1.6 times more legal entities were registered in six months.

The situation with closures is not so stable: they increased by 19% over the year. Since the beginning of the year, 6,653 businesses have closed. The net increase is 11,624 companies, which is the lowest figure in the last 5 years.

It is worth noting that 97 newly established companies ceased operations even after not even six months of existence. This is slightly more than last year - 92, but significantly less than in 2021 - when there were 264.

Most new businesses in Ukraine are engaged in wholesale trade - 15% of registrations. NGOs are in second place, followed by real estate, IT, and the agricultural sector. At the same time, the IT sector is growing the fastest: 48% of new registrations over the year.

At the same time, NGOs were the most frequently closed this year - 11% of the total number of closures.
