Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov has appointed an advisor on barrier-free space.

As stated in the mayor's order published by the municipality's press service, it was Oleksiy Morozov, founder of the Bezbarierni NGO and the Odesa Region Help Charitable Foundation.

He is also an entrepreneur and the head of the Peresypskyi district organization of the political party "Trust the Deeds" in Odesa. In addition, he is the deputy chairman of the city's Barrier-Free Council. In 2024, he was ranked 69th in the "100 Influential Odessans" rating compiled by journalists of the South Ukrainian Media Holding.

He will be an advisor to the mayor for a year.

The issue of accessibility of Odesa's roads, buildings, transport and public recreation facilities for people with disabilities is constantly in the spotlight of journalists and public figures. In early April, guide Yevheniy Hrinkevych led a tour for people with disabilities in wheelchairs through the center of Odesa, thus checking the city center for inclusiveness. The tour was also attended by city council members Lilia Leonidova and Oleksiy Asaulenko.

The previous tour was conducted with a representative of the Government Commissioner for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Odesa Regional State Administration, public figure Oleh Sokolov in May 2024.

In addition, Odesa is preparing to expand the Dolphin beach area and create special infrastructure for people with disabilities. The Department of Engineering Protection of the City Territory and Coastal Development has been officially appointed as the customer for the design and reconstruction of this beach.

In turn, Yurii Degas, the owner of the private beach Kaleton, which is also located on this site, claims that entrepreneur Kostiantyn Tkach, with the support of Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov, began to build up the last pieces of the coast and, to justify this construction, the mayor's office began to create its own inclusive beach.

Instead, in 2025, Odesa will not open an inclusive beach on Luzanivka. The reason is that the military did not approve its opening.
