Odesa goes to sea: bloggers show what's happening on the beach in Chornomorets

Landslides are continuing in Odesa - gradual destruction of the coastline is being recorded on the coast near Chornomorka.

This was reported by the authors of the Zootopia channel, who systematically document landslides in the coastal areas of Odesa Oblast.

In their new video, they showed how Lustdorf is slowly sliding into the sea: the slopes are crumbling, washed away by rain and waves, and in some places, you can already see the gaps where there were once paths, buildings, and even beaches. In particular, the footage shows how the site of the former rescue station and the Laguna bar is now a blurred cliff, a mess of earth and traces of recent landslides.

"There used to be a path here, cars used to drive by, and now everything has crumbled. The coast is also slowly shifting further," the authors comment. They note that since the beginning of the year, the situation has noticeably worsened, despite attempts to intervene - in some places, something was added, strengthened, but this did not give a stable result.

The authors of the video describe how this area used to be alive a few years ago: beaches were open, garbage cans were there, and the shore was suitable for recreation. Today, there are only ruins, makeshift cottages on unstable slopes and traces of landslides.

They also warn that planting trees as the only method of combating landslides is a myth. The video shows how large trees, which are supposed to "fix" the slope, on the contrary, accelerate its collapse due to their own weight. According to the activists, the problem can only be solved comprehensively, with the involvement of specialists, geotechnical solutions and stabilization of landslide-prone areas.

It should be added that the Zootopia TV channel has been documenting the degradation of the coast in Odesa Oblast for many years. The last time they showed the situation on the Black Sea was in January 2025.
