Odesa is checking the facts of unauthorized connections of private houses in Kyivskyi district to the stormwater network.

This was reported by the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District.

The inspectorate continues to consider the appeal of local residents who reported that sewage was entering the Black Sea through stormwater pipes. For this purpose, a commission was set up with the participation of representatives of the Infoksvodokanal branch of Infoks LLC, Municipal Enterprise "City Roads", Kyiv District Administration of Odesa City Council, and Zolotyi Bereg.

On March 25, the commission conducted a survey and found that the stormwater collector passes through a densely built-up area of private houses in Kyiv district. In some manholes, signs of sewage were found.

Environmental inspectors reported that the water from the stormwater collector flows into the Black Sea without prior treatment. Water samples were taken to analyze the pollution. Laboratory measurements of these samples are currently underway, and the issue remains under the control of the inspection.

Earlier, Intent wrote that on one of Odesa's beaches, untreated sewage is flowing directly into the water through an emergency collector, polluting the Black Sea.

Recently, state inspectors conducted a spot check of Odesa beaches for new cases of oil pollution. No pollution was found.

Meanwhile, a massive fish kill was reported in the Dniester estuary in Odesa region. The incident occurred near the village of Vypasne, which is part of the Molohiv community. Ruslan Minkovskyi, head of the Water Resources Protection Department of the Odesa Fisheries Patrol, said that the fish kill occurred in the area of industrial fishing. The amount of dead fish that washed ashore could be several tons.
