The city of Odesa has allocated UAH 167 million from the city budget for coastal protection in the Arcadia beach area. The work is expected to be completed by the end of December 2026.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.

The tender for a contractor was announced by the Capital Construction Department of the Odesa City Council on April 22.

According to the documents, it is a major overhaul of the coastal protection from the buildings at 90/51 Novoberegova Street to the building at 10 Arkadiya Beach.

The first stage involves the dismantling of old concrete structures of the shoreline, both on land and underwater, including slabs, piles, wave deflectors, and more. The work includes dismantling reinforced concrete structures, loading and removing garbage by dump trucks, and pulling out old metal piles. It is also necessary to dig trenches and pits with excavators for further work.

The next stage is repair work at the site where the staircase bank reinforcement is planned. The contractor is to install concrete slabs that will form the bank fortifications, ramps, wave deflectors and concrete pavement of the embankment. All structures will be installed under the supervision of divers.

Separate measures are planned for drainage, drainage and landscaping. The final stage includes the creation of retaining walls, the formation of joints, backfilling of trenches and territory planning.

Applications from contractors will be accepted until May 5, and on the same day, an auction will be held in the format of open bidding with features that provide for a reduced deadline for submitting applications and the possibility of appeal.

The project is planned to cost UAH 167 million 280 thousand. The source of funding is the local budget. All work is expected to be completed by the end of December 2026.
