Occupied Kherson Region Left Without Bread Due to Collapse in Crimea

Due to logistical problems in Crimea, shortages of bread, fuel, and other goods have begun in the occupied Kherson region. Damage to key routes is forcing the occupiers to use congested detour routes, which only exacerbates the situation.

This was reported on Freedom TV by Eskender Bariev, a representative of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

According to him, occupied Crimea is connected to mainland Ukraine and the occupied territories by several strategic logistics routes, which are currently facing difficulties. The Chongar Bridge played a special role in the supply system, as it carried the main flows of food, fuel, and military cargo between Dzhankoy, Henichesk, and the route to Melitopol.

Bariyev noted that any disruptions on this route immediately affect the entire supply system for the occupying forces and civilian territories. According to him, residents of the occupied areas are already feeling the consequences. In particular, residents of Henichesk report a shortage of bread on the Arabat Spit, which was previously regularly delivered from Dzhankoy, indicating the disruption of established supply chains.

A representative of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center said that after the first strikes on the Chongar Bridge, the occupying authorities tried to maintain traffic flow using a reverse passage. However, after repeated attacks, the damage became so extensive that pontoon bridges had to be used, which are unable to ensure the full functioning of logistics.

According to Bariev, attempts to reroute traffic through the “Armiansk” checkpoint also failed to produce the desired result. Strikes were recorded in this direction, queues formed, and inspections intensified, making the route unstable and less efficient.

Separately, the expert highlighted the importance of the Arabat Spit for the military infrastructure of Russian forces. He explained that this area houses training grounds, barracks, and helicopter landing pads. Damage to the bridge between Henichesk and the Arabat Spit, he said, effectively put yet another logistics corridor out of commission.

The situation around the Kerch Bridge also remains complex. Bariev reported that following previous attacks, the Russian side had tried not to overload this route, but due to the danger of land routes, it is forced to use it more and more actively.

The expert highlighted the worsening staffing crisis. According to him, some tanker truck drivers are refusing to work on dangerous routes, abandoning their vehicles due to the high risks involved. Even a significant increase in salaries, which in some cases reaches 300,000 rubles, is not helping to overcome the labor shortage.

Following recent strikes, the Chongar Bridge sustained critical damage and is currently completely impassable to traffic. As a result, Russian troops are forced to reroute supply lines through occupied Crimea.
