Not all markets in Mykolaiv are ready for a moment of silence

Preparations are underway at the markets in Mykolaiv for the daily minute of silence at 9:00 a.m. The main problem is outdated or damaged sound amplification equipment.

This was reported by Gennadiy Zadyrko, an advisor to the mayor.

According to him, city officials held meetings with the administrations of several markets, including the car market and the Bashtansky Market, to discuss organizing the daily minute of silence.

However, all venues face the same problem: the condition of the sound amplification equipment. It is either obsolete or has been damaged by explosions, as is the case at the car market.

“We have been assured that these issues will be resolved in the coming days,” Zadyrko said.

At the Central Market, according to the advisor, the sound system is already operational, though the volume is still insufficient. Market representatives have promised to rectify the situation.

On June 28, to mark the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of Ukraine, a commemorative event was held in Mykolaiv dedicated to all those who, throughout various historical periods and today, are fighting for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.

What is known about the minute of silence

In March 2026, a nationwide daily minute of silence was established by law in Ukraine. The corresponding law was signed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Starting in May, a signal marking the minute of silence began to be broadcast daily at 9:00 a.m. through public address systems in populated areas. Loudspeakers are also used during certain nationwide commemorative events, such as the “Light a Candle” campaign on the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holodomor.

The story of Odesa’s “Minute of Silence” began earlier, which iswhy Intent.Insight dedicatedits live broadcast on April 22 to this very topic.

As of now, it is a weekly event where concerned citizens gather to honor the memory of all those who died as a result of Russian aggression and to remind others of the importance of remembrance.
