Nearly 4 metric tons of combustion products were released into the air following the Russian Federation’s shelling in the Odesa region

Russian shelling caused a vegetation fire in the Pivdennivska community in the Odesa region. Nearly 3.6 metric tons of combustion byproducts were released into the air, and the damage exceeded 10 million hryvnias.

This was reported by the State Environmental Inspection of the Southwestern District.

The attack took place on September 15. As a result of the shelling of the Odesa region, a vegetation fire broke out in the Pivdennivska territorial community. At that time, the fire engulfed 4.8 hectares of territory.

According to the inspection, nearly 3.6 metric tons of combustion products were released into the atmosphere as a result of the fire. Of this amount, approximately 3.5 metric tons were carbon dioxide (CO₂).

Experts calculated the environmental damage caused by the fire, which totaled more than 10.6 million hryvnias.

The collected materials were forwarded to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspection of Ukraine. The data will be used to document the consequences of Russia’s armed aggression, the Environmental Inspection added.

What is known about the attack

According to the Regional Military Administration, on September 15, the Odesa region endured yet another massive attack by Russian occupiers. As a result of the enemy strike, a disused warehouse building was damaged. A fire broke out there following the attack.

The roofs, facades, and windows of three private residential buildings were also damaged. The blast wave damaged 10 private garages and two passenger cars. No fires broke out in them.

There were no fatalities or injuries.

Rescue workers and other relevant services were on the scene at the time. More than 50 State Emergency Service personnel were deployed to address the aftermath of the attack.

In addition, on the afternoon of September 15, the enemy struck an operational poultry farm. The roof, which was equipped with solar panels, was damaged. A fire broke out. Some of the poultry perished.
