The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has found inaccurate data worth more than UAH 243 million in the declarations of officials from Odesa region.

This was reported by the NACP.

During a visit to the region, NACP Deputy Head Sergiy Hupyak said that 68 full audits of declarations are underway, of which 44 have been completed. The results showed that 21 declarations contained inaccuracies in the information, and 4 more showed signs of unjustified assets totaling UAH 15.9 million.

The violators were representatives of local councils, the migration service, tax audit, and local council members. Hupiak also met with representatives of the regional authorities and discussed ways to reduce corruption risks in the areas that require the most attention: customs, infrastructure restoration, procurement, as well as border crossing and medical and social and military medical examinations.

The Deputy Head of the NACP emphasized the need to introduce electronic document management for greater transparency and fight corruption.

He also emphasized that public procurement, in particular in the field of construction of fortifications, should be as transparent as possible. Hupiak noted that NACP experts are currently analyzing corruption risks in the customs sector, which remains one of the most corrupt, according to surveys of the public and business.

During the briefing, Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Regional Audit Office, commented on a high-profile case: a nurse of the regional medical and social expert commission (MSEC) and the district TCC and JV was found to have real estate in the center of Odesa worth about UAH 4.5 million.

It also became known that Oleksandr Urbanskyi, Deputy Chairman of the Odesa Regional Council, may be fined for failing to declare an Audi car worth about UAH 5 million on the market.
