The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption has started checking the lifestyle of the first deputy chairman of the Kherson Regional Council and a member of the Servant of the People party, Yuriy Sobolevsky.

This was reported by Radio Liberty.

The reason was an investigation by the Schemes project, where journalists found out that in one year, the official declared more than UAH 3.5 million in savings, mostly in foreign currency cash, without explaining their origin.

The article also emphasized that the lifestyle of the official's family - numerous trips and the use of premium cars - did not correspond to official income. The car in question is a Volkswagen Touareg worth about UAH 2 million, which is registered to a retired father-in-law whose official income would not allow him to buy such a car. In a response to journalists, the NACP noted that the data obtained would be taken into account when monitoring the official's lifestyle.

According to media reports, in 2019, Sobolevsky declared 50 thousand dollars, 40 thousand euros and about a million hryvnias in cash and invested in the purchase of a Kyiv apartment - although the year before, the family had no such savings, as evidenced by the declaration of his wife, who was a civil servant at the time.

The official's wife said in a commentary that her husband "worked as a lawyer all his life" and had savings, but could not explain why they were not listed in the 2018 declaration. Sobolevsky himself also said that he had a lawyer's income, which is difficult to reproduce in detail.

The journalists also drew attention to the family's use of a premium car, which was not listed in the official's declaration . The official's father-in-law bought a new 2020 Touareg for UAH 2 million. For more than 20 years, he officially earned UAH 618 thousand and received a pension, so the difference between his income and the cost of the car is almost a million.

His father-in-law confirmed that he had bought the car, but he had been "saving all his life" and his children had contributed some of the money. The deputy himself admitted that he had partially financed the purchase, but did not include the car in his declaration because, in his opinion, his wife does not use it all the time. The official's family also lived in Augsburg, Germany, for some time, but the declaration does not indicate either rental housing or free accommodation.

The official's daughter actively posted on social media about her trips to France, Austria, the Czech Republic and Turkey in 2022-2025.

The Center forPublic Investigations analyzed Yurii Sobolevskyi 's declaration and found that in September 2023, he purchased a 45.7-square-meter apartment in Kyiv. Thus, he already owns two apartments in the capital - the second one is 94 square meters. In addition, his wife Olena owns another apartment in Kyiv with an area of 65.8 square meters, and Sobolevsky himself uses an apartment in Kherson with an area of 69.9 square meters.
