A new investment program has been approved for Mykolaivvodokanal

The Executive Committee approved the 2027 investment program of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivvodokanal,” aimed at restoring and enhancing the resilience of the city’s water supply and wastewater systems. Key measures include the restoration of networks, the reconstruction of a pumping station, and the renovation of sewage treatment facilities.

Viktor Pisotsky, deputy director of the municipal utility “Mykolaivvodokanal,” announced this during the review of the draft resolution.

According to him, the need for investment stems from significant damage to the city’s water supply and wastewater systems. The water distribution and sewer networks were damaged by the use of saltwater, and certain facilities, particularly the wastewater treatment plants, were damaged as a result of Russian shelling.

The main goal of the program is to maintain the system in proper working order to ensure that Mykolaiv residents receive stable water supply and wastewater services.

Most of the planned measures involve restoring the relevant infrastructure. The reconstruction of the second-stage pumping station was included separately in the program. This is expected not only to increase the system’s resilience but also to improve the utility’s energy efficiency.

Another project involves the reconstruction of the sewage treatment plant in Galitsynovka. The company noted that this facility is important for both environmental safety and the overall safety of Mykolaiv.

The investment program was planned to be financed from several sources. Specifically, these include the company’s own funds, depreciation allowances, loan financing, and grant funds from international donors.

Pisotsky also stated his intention to more actively seek grant funding to reduce the burden on the city budget. To this end,“Mykolaivvodokanal” is collaborating with international donors and financial institutions.

Specifically, the company has already launched a new program with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. As part of this program, a tender was held for the reconstruction of water mains, primarily in the central part of Mykolaiv.

According to Pisotsky, all planned measures should be aimed at improving the system’s resilience, restoring it, and preventing disruptions in water supply and wastewater disposal for the city’s residents.

Additionally, starting October 1, 2026, the rate for centralized wastewater services will increase for all categories of consumers. The City Council’s Executive Committee has set a new rate per cubic meter for the municipal utility “Mykolaivvodokanal.”
