A court in Mykolaiv found a local resident guilty of setting fire to military vehicles and attempting to set fire to a court. He entered into an agreement with the investigation and was punished for his actions.

This was reported by Court Reporter.

The Ingulsky District Court of Mykolaiv found a local resident guilty of obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The accused systematically set fire to military vehicles on the instructions of a supervisor via Telegram, receiving a monetary reward for this.

The case file refers to two incidents that occurred on January 2 and 3, 2025. In the evening, the arsonist noticed cars with signs of belonging to the Armed Forces on the street, filmed them and coordinated with the curator, and then set them on fire. Both cars burned down completely.

The suspect was an 18-year-old boy who has been brought to court three times for mercenary crimes since 2023. He was detained after setting fire to the Korabelnyi District Court in Mykolaiv on January 5: he broke a window, poured flammable substance into the building, and threw a bag of flammable materials, setting it on fire with a lighter.

The boy received the task to burn down the court from an unidentified person in a telegram with the promise of a reward of $2000.

The materials on the arson of military vehicles and the court were separated and considered separately. The defendant pleaded guilty to arson under an agreement with the investigation and was sentenced to six years in prison. The arson was classified by the court as intentional damage to another person's property, which is punishable by imprisonment for 3 to 10 years.

In July, the court considered the case of a 20-year-old resident of Nova Odesa, who was accused of setting fire to military vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a reward. According to the investigation, he set two cars on fire in Mykolaiv with a flammable liquid, filmed it and passed the footage to the customer, receiving UAH 7,000.
