On the order of the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the prosecutor of the Mykolaiv District Prosecutor's Office officially served a notice of suspicion to the head of one of the village communities in Mykolaiv district. The official is suspected of embezzling property by abusing his official position. Since the offense was committed under martial law and involved large amounts of money, the actions are classified under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv City Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, in 2022, the head of the community signed a direct agreement with an individual entrepreneur for the supply of generators. The purchase was made without the use of an electronic system, and the prices for the goods were deliberately inflated.

Due to such illegal actions of the official, the local budget suffered losses in excess of UAH 700 thousand. Currently, the pre-trial investigation in this case is being conducted by officers of the Police Department No. 8 of the Mykolaiv District Department of the National Police in Mykolaiv Region.

The suspect faces a prison term of 5 to 8 years for the offense.

In particular, the Mykolaiv community received technical assistance from USAID: diesel generators for utility companies. In total, the assistance amounted to more than UAH 6.7 million.

As part of the Hoverla project, implemented with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the city received ALIMAR diesel generators. They will help ensure the smooth operation of utilities during power outages. According to the executive committee, the aid was received in December last year before USAID was reorganized.
