Mykolaiv region spent the least on drones for the front and remained among the outsiders

In the first quarter of 2025, Mykolaiv region spent only 1 million hryvnias on the purchase of drones for the Defense Forces, the least of all regions. Odesa region spent about 3 million, and Kherson region has no data at all.

This is evidenced by the data of the infographic guide UA War Infographics.

In the first quarter of 2025, Ukrainian regions spent more than a billion hryvnias on the purchase of drones for the Defense Forces, but the scale of assistance varies significantly. Zaporizhzhia region became the absolute leader with almost 472 million hryvnias. This was followed by Kirovohrad region with almost 129 million, Lviv region with over 85 million, Cherkasy region with 81 million, and Kyiv region with 45.5 million.

Other regions spent much more modest amounts: Zhytomyr region allocated about 15 million hryvnias, Vinnytsia region - more than 13 million, Dnipropetrovs'k region - a little over 12 million. In Sumy, Kharkiv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, spending ranged from 4 to 7 million hryvnias. Luhansk and Chernihiv regions spent about 2 million each.

Against this background, the south looks completely passive. Mykolaiv region has allocated only 1 million hryvnias for the purchase of drones, the least among all regions. Odesa region has allocated a little more, 2.9 million hryvnias. In Kherson region, there is no public data on procurement at all. This raises questions, as these are the regions that are most vulnerable to Russian attacks and should be among the most active in supporting the frontline.

An infographic published by the Army PRO project analysts clearly demonstrates how some regions systematically support the army, while others are limited to minimal or formal spending.

In 2024, Odesa region allocated almost UAH 1.2 billion to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In Mykolaiv region, together with territorial communities, UAH 857 million was allocated for defense needs. Kherson region spent a third of its annual budget to help the army, which amounts to about UAH 500 million.
