The Yelanetska community in the villages of Vozsiyatske and Yelantsi has a serious problem with garbage collection: the territories remain cluttered, and the number of illegal dumps is only growing.

This became known during a meeting of the permanent deputy commission on ecology, environmental protection, rational use of natural resources, tourism and recreation of the Mykolaiv Regional Council.

According to deputy Tetyana Demchenko, the problem has not been solved for several years:

There are not fewer, but even more landfills, and there is still no organized waste collection.

According to her, local residents expect at least regular garbage collection - for example, once a week.

At the same time, a representative of the village council, Oleksandr Selyutin, said that the situation has not worsened, but there have been no significant changes.

The chairman of the commission, Alla Ryazhskikh, reacted sharply to the situation and warned of possible intervention by the prosecutor's office if the problem was not resolved.

The deputies gave the community leadership until April 20 to

After that, the deputies are scheduled to visit the community again to check the situation.

The issues of the state of the Hromokleya River and infrastructure were also raised, but it was the problem of garbage that caused the greatest resonance.

As Intent previously wrote, in Mykolaiv, city council members did not support the decision to approve the procedure for the operation of a household waste sorting complex.

Last September, the police opened a case over possible abuses by Mykolaiv City Council officials during a tender for waste sorting. The investigation focuses on the process of selecting a contractor to provide sorting services, with a project budget of UAH 1.25 billion.

Back in September 2024, MPs voted to approve the procedure for the tender for the construction of a sorting station, but the document did not gain support at first. At the time, Senkevych emphasized that this was a technical issue that needed to be approved.
